About Else S.
Ms. Else is a cellist originally from Ontario, Canada. She started taking lessons at the age of eight, after a cellist’s presentation at her elementary school inspired her. The immensely positive experience she had with music lessons led her to pursue cello performance professionally, studying under the instruction of world-renowned musicians Joseph Johnson, principal of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra (now at Eastman), and Marcy Rosen, cellist of the Mendelssohn String Quartet. Throughout her studies, Else also developed a passion for teaching. She has taken Suzuki training with acclaimed teacher trainers Susan Gagnon, Shu-Yi Scott, and Sally Gross. Else has been described as a patient and dedicated teacher, developing positive relationships with all her students. In her lessons, she focuses on the establishment of a healthy set-up on the instrument, fluent note-reading, and a strong sense of musicality. As a result, her student have been praised for their maturity and confidence in performances.
